Sunday Facts and Thoughts; Internet and the Future Control of the Obama Admin.

August 1, 2010

It use to be that we figured that the authorities were watching the bad guys, especially on the internet. While the nightmare is that the Government along with the FCC want to control the internet and what you can read, watch, and listen to. China and Australia, plus many other countries already do this. It seems that it is coming soon.

It gives the government new powers to break up companies involved in practices threaten the economy, puts more light on the financial markets that escaped the oversight of regulators and — one of Obama’s biggest victories — creates a new consumer financial protection bureau.

(But that’s another blog.)

Senate to Give Obama the Kill Switch to the Internet

It came to light in the spring of 2009, when the senate decided they wanted to hand over the internet to the Executive Branch. The bill gives Obama, or who might be in office the power to shut the public sector off the Net.

Jay Rockefeller spent months behind closed doors drafting another version which is not much better. Senator Rockefeller’s version was even more vague. SourceHere is a link to a snippet of the Rockefeller bill.

Rockefeller put my mind at easy when he said, this will like what Bush did on 9-11. I feel better, how about you?

If you read my last blog you see the importance of the Obama Kill Switch. The Executive Branch does not need to have more power. It is time to remove some of the powers instilled over the last two decades.

Now we have the investment arm of the CIA and Google Ventures, the investment arm of Google teaming up to monitor the internet.

The investment arms of the CIA and Google are both backing a company that monitors the web in real time — and says it uses that information to predict the future.

The company is called Recorded Future, and it scours tens of thousands of websites, blogs and Twitter accounts to find the relationships between people, organizations, actions and incidents — both present and still-to-come. In a white paper, the company says its temporal analytics engine “goes beyond search” by “looking at the ‘invisible links’ between documents that talk about the same, or related, entities and events.”

“The cool thing is, you can actually predict the curve, in many cases,” says company CEO Christopher Ahlberg, a former Swedish Army Ranger with a PhD in computer science.

This is another step towards internet control and censorship, using fear to gain position.

There is a saying, “The government should fear the people, not the people fear the government. There are some countries where that is true, but this ain’t one of them. The better part of the United States citizenry are in such a hurry to turn over full and complete power to the Federal government because they were told, the boogieman will get them unless they, (The Government) watch everything that happens. The part of this plan that should shake you to the core is, they don’t even try to hide it. The people have been so conditioned by fear, they curl up into the fetal position not wanting to rock the boat.

I am still trying to understand, why people choose to hand over their rights and freedoms over to a government that fear mongers and drags their loved ones off to fight wars on foreign soil. Over the last three decades, our troops have been used to protect resources, or take them. Don‘t believe, me find the location of the oil and natural gas pipelines in Afghanistan.
