The Media’s New Role as a Propaganda Machine, Underway!

June 17, 2009

As banks, credit institutes and car manufactures get their bailouts and prepare for the Government to take them over, there is another industry that is about to fall pray due to hard times and the Internet, the MEDIA.

There is a bill that is being put forth by, Sen. Benjamin Cardin, D Maryland, that will give control to the government over the print media. This will be done by giving news papers tax exempt status.

The Maryland Democrat proposed a bill Tuesday that would rewrite tax law to allow newspapers to operate as tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, just as long as they don’t make official endorsements of political candidates.

But some media analysts say that could create government control of the news.

Here is the actualSenate Bill, that is being introduced.

I have come to find out that ABC will now be taking it orders from none other than the White House. This is no great surprise in and of itself, seeing that MSNBC and others have been in a constant love affair with Obama from the start. However, this media love affair has moved to the next step and now is going to live with the administration.

The story was first broke on “The Drudge Report” 06-17-09, then it was picked up on the Wire.

The prime time special — called “Questions for the President: Prescription for America” by ABC News — will be a nationally televised event during which President Obama will answer questions presented by audience members selected by ABC News.

It is important to note, no critics of the plan will be present at the Q&A session. ABC says that it not the White House will have editorial control.

“In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this prime time infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime,” Ken McKay, Chief of Staff for the Republican National Committee, wrote in a letter to ABC News President David Westin.

“The president has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this prime time event,” McKay wrote.

ABC News Senior Vice President Kerry Smith returned volley to McKay in her own letter released Tuesday. She said any viewer who watches will be sure to find the network’s coverage is “informative, fair and civil.”

“Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have complete editorial control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience,” Smith wrote.

Rich Noyes, research director at the Media Research Center, said the amount of time being dedicated exclusively to Obama’s platform presents a problem for those claiming fairness.

As much as I want to see the Healthcare System made affordable, I feel that we need to hear both sides of the debate. Witch is what Obama had promised. However, it looks as if this is another of his overlooked promises. So it is showing, if you control the media the spotlight is always yours.

Ps. Isn’t it strange, that contributors to Obama are being basicly what adds up to, being bought up by this administration?
