Tobacco Regulation Update: Unconstitutional Bill Passes the Senate and Will be Sent Back to the Congress, Then to Obama.

June 11, 2009

Are You Happy Now?

Former FDA Commissioner David Kessler, who spearheaded the original effort to treat the nicotine in tobacco as a drug, hailed the Senate vote of 79-17. “It’s as strong a bill as we could have ever imagined,” he said.

He said the industry fees mandated by the bill to pay for FDA regulation will enable the regulator to strictly enforce new rules, such as a ban on candy- and fruit-flavored cigarettes. “With $600 [million] to $700 million from industry to support it, I think the administration can set it up.”

Where do you think that six or seven hundred-million is going to come from? We the consumer will eat that in price hikes. The bill also makes hard for the smaller companies to compete with the likes of Philip Morris, and eventually driving them out.

Critics said the bill will establish a new federal bureaucracy and unfairly benefit Philip Morris USA, a unit of Altria Group Inc., which dominates U.S. cigarette sales. Sen. Richard Burr (R., N.C.) said restrictions in the bill will hinder smaller companies from introducing new products.

Really what should have been done is tobacco should have been made illegal, so they could put more nonviolent offenders in prisons (as they do for Marijuana) and the prison population would need new housing, and the prison workforce would also grow. And then the black market would grow even larger in the tobacco trade. You know, the government would get involved on both sides of the game as they do with drugs, and they will be making money hand over fist. When are the people going to say this is enough, and take it to the streets. It is time to take back the out of control “POWER” that we let grow as we were lulled into a false sense of security.

You have Given Absolute Power to what is becoming a Fascist government. Today it is what is being called a minor issue. However, this is to test the waters and see when the people will push back. And yet the people say nothing. This reminds me of “Chip Diller” (Kevin Bacon) in “Animal House” when he is bent over asking for another crack on the ass with a paddle so that he can get into the Fraternity. “Yes Sir, may I have another?”

I truly believe, we are about to get what you ask for, but you won’t like what’s in the package. Maybe I should say, “You are about to get what you deserve for not looking at what the C.F.R. gave you to vote for.” The plan is close to completion, The New Continental Country, (The North American Union).

With all that is going down under this administration, Obama-nites are still making excuses for it, and telling us to give him time. I don’t want to give him time, they have done too much damage already and if you can’t see that you need to step aside so that we can move on.

The Republicans were not subtle when the wanted to discredit their opposition, they called them unpatriotic, Enemies of the State, And Conspiracy Nuts, The Democrats are subtle in how they do it, they call them “Tea-Baggers”, Wack-Jobs, and yes,Conspiracy Nuts. (Somethings never change.)
