Urban Drills Continue Under the New Administration

February 23, 2009

Before I get started I would like to thank those who keep helping me by finding the information during this trying time.

The sharp chop of low-flying helicopters over the South Texas coast caught many residents and some officials off guard last week as the helicopters swooped around in a counterterrorism exercise.
The black helicopters dropped helmeted soldiers into the downtown area of nearby Kingsville, as well as in Port Aransas.

That paragraph reads like something out of a Tom Clancy novel, but it’s not. It is the first paragraph from a story in the New York Times describing an unannounced Anti-terrorist Drill in a couple Texas towns. The first February 8th 2009, in Kingsville, and then again 4 days later in Port Aransas.

During the drills a problem arose when a fire was started while the soldiers were using an acetylene torch to cut through a chain link fence in Kingsville. Although, it was according to plan when they used live grenades to blow up an abandon Exxon building. The only problem was that they shattered some other windows from the blast.

Wait, the only problem they see using live explosives in a town is they shattered some windows unintentionally. Wow, ok. Un-fucking believable!

More drills will be taking place in Kingsville, because the military will be taking advantage of the abandoned buildings in the small Texas town.

Then there is the plan that was scraped, that is the good news, the bad news is the only reason it was scraped is that it was made public.

Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off the mock “invasion.”

The Guard needs to get the people use to seeing military in the streets, and gain their confidence enough to allow them to search their homes and vehicles.

“It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia,” Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company, told Carroll’s Daily Times Herald. “We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.”

(I added the bold print in the quote>)

Maybe it’s just me but, it seems that the government and military don’t care about the people of the nation. It becomes quite evident in the paragraph below.

And while Hapgood confirmed the Guard had been inundated with objections from citizens concerned about soldiers patrolling the streets of an American town, he said most came from people out of state and unfamiliar with the operation. Iowans, he explained, typically cooperate with the Guard. The change in plans was based on troop evaluation, he said, not public outcry.

The next part is a peak into what could be in store for the dissenters of the government. Of course the old Neo-Con saying holds well, or does it? “If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.” So what does it say for those who refuse to take part in the “Drill”? Anyway here is what takes place in the Drill.

“Once credible intelligence has been gathered,” said Kots, “portions of the town will be road-blocked and more in-depth searches of homes and vehicles will be conducted in accordance with the residents’ wishes.

“One of the techniques we use in today’s political environment is cordon and knock,” Kots explained. “We ask for the head of the household, get permission to search, then have them open doors and cupboards. The homeowner maintains control. We peer over their shoulder, and the soldier uses the homeowner’s body language and position to protect him.”

The planned drill had also included overhead supervision from a Blackhawk helicopter, crowd-control measures and simulated extraction of “injured” people, culminating in capture of the “arms dealer.”

I will give you, some might feel that these drills mean nothing, and maybe on their own they wouldn’t. However, the Pentagon has had plans since early in the last administration, to place armed military in the cities of the country. One thing that blocked this from happening was Posse Comitatus. However, this was suspended by George W. Bush on Oct. 17th 2006.

Public Law 109-364, or the “John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007” (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a “public emergency” and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to “suppress public disorder.”

Yes I know that the Obama-nites will say that Bush is gone, and this is the “Dawning of Utopia”. However, this and many other laws remain in place, The biggest being the Patriot Act.) Also, many Presidential Directives, and Executive Orders, that were not removed by Obama. Mr. Obama pulled the wool over many peoples eyes by getting rid of the Bush Signing Statements, which really meant nothing. If Mr. Obama wants to impress people and build good faith, he will repeal Directive 51, for starters. He has been pushing a Package that will prolong, and worsen the Financial Crises, we may see the use of these laws and the such.

These drills need to be stopped while the citizens of this country have no protection against a tyrant government, that is the bottom line.

There are many laws that Obama needs to repeal, and get rid of before he has my complete support. I voted for him…but I will not continue to support him if he refuses to undo all the damage Bush done to our country and my rights.

Great post here Aba, keep it up!
