Putting the Dots Together. (It’s Not Going to Happen Overnight)

June 4, 2008

I was just catching up on some of the reading I have been putting off when I ran across an article that was given to me by a friend entitled: “Review on the Coming Military Draft”. Authored by, Ken Adachi Editor of It seems that I am not the only person that gets those questions like; “I thought you said this is going to happen, or that.” Also the, “You were wrong”.

In the article Mr. Adachi points out that he has gotten the same responses about things that he said back in 2004 about a draft. However, the reasoning he uses is dead on. I too believe that it is only a matter of time until they will call for a straight out draft and not the “Back Door”/ “Stop loss” one they are using now.

The military has had bad times when it comes to recruiting. They have had to lower their expectations on the number of recruits they can snag. As Mr. Adachi points out it is known that they have been complaining since shortly after the startup of the Iraq conflict, that we don’t have enough troops. Donald Rumsfeld said it himself when ask about why the army was digging in the scrap yard for armor for the Humm-Vees. Rumsfeld replied to the soldier,“As you know, you have to go to war with the Army you have, not the Army you want.” This administration wanted to go to war with Iraq so bad that they did not care that they were not equipped for this type of battle, or the lives that would be lost.

As Mr. Adachi also points out, the only thing that has kept and is still barely keeping them from attacking Iran is the quagmire called Iraq. The reason I say barely keeping them from, is after watching Barrack Obama address AIPK today, I saw, he too will do what it takes to please Israel. However Hillary Clinton also echoed his exact sentiments at that same meeting. Though he did not speak there today, John McCain in a Town Hall Meeting today sang Israel’s praises, as he has done in the past.

It is pretty obvious that we will see the Middle East in turmoil no matter who is placed in office, and that a Draft will be needed. The question is really, How long can the government carry out this charade, that the military is strong enough to continue in the Middle East, and protect the homeland without a Draft.
