The Real ID, Will Be-Real Soon?

December 21, 2007

This Should Not Be An Issue

We all know that after September 11, 2001 the opportunity arose for the government to exercise policies that scare the public into submission. They used it to pass many laws including The Patriot Act. Also in 2004 a Real ID act was introduced that requires all states to gather information on all citizens and place it in a centralized data bank at H.L.S.

The Real ID Act H.R. 418 was all but gone when it was attached to a bill that at that point in time was one that you dare not vote against.

The Real ID Act began as US House Bill 418 in 2005, but died a natural death. Representative Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin added the
text of House Bill 418 to his military spending bill (House Bill 1268) and
it was signed into law (Public Law 109-13, 119 Stat. 231) on May 11 of
2005. The Real ID Act of 2005 is Division B of an act of the U. S.
Congress entitled “Emergency Supplemental Appropriation Act for
Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief.” There were no
debates or hearings on this act prior to passage; it would have been
politically inexpedient in May of 2005 for legislators to vote against
funding for the war on terror or tsunami relief.

The states are fighting the Real ID Act, mostly because of the cost, along with the rights issues. However one senator is doing an end around by introducing a Bill to fund the program. The Bill was voted on in July.

Unreal ID

Now instead of listening to the states, Senator Lamar Alexander plans to offer an amendment to this year’s Homeland Security funding bill that will take hundreds of millions of dollars away from important things like port security, the Coast Guard, and disaster preparedness. He wants to give a little cash to the states to fund REAL ID – 300 million dollars-worth – and expects the states to gratefully pay the remaining 22.7 billion dollar tab.

Privacy and Security Law

In October of 2005, Bush signed a Bill that approved 40 million dollars for the states to get the Real ID Act going. The money is to help states purchase the software needed to get the ball rolling.

Little by little the government is getting the job done, they are getting the money out there for the Real ID. They are determined to get the people enslave to them. Yes even more than we already are.
