A Country on the Path To Despotism. And a MUST WATCH VIDEO

September 22, 2007

Webster’s Dictionary defines Despotism as:

1 a: rule by a despot b: despotic exercise of power.

2 a: a system of government in which the ruler has unlimited power: ABSOLUTISM b: a despotic state.

To find a government that is ever so dangerously close too despotism you need not look any further than your own back yard.

There have been many Laws and Acts set forth down through the decades, such as the Patriot Act and The repeal of the Fairness Doctrine, are two of the most damaging.

The installation of The Patriot Act was not the first sign of the move towards despotism, but it was one of the most flagrant of the acts against the people‘s Rights. R.H. 3261 gives the Government unbridled power, while limiting the role of the Judicial branch. By doing a search for laws passed under the 109th Congress, you will find that many laws were passed to cover the parts of the Patriot Act that might be repealed. Also the laws diminish the powers of the Judicial Brach of government.

The repeal of the Fairness Doctrine has open the door for people like Rupert Murdock to buy up communications and influence the people of the country politically by controlling the news that they see, and spinning it to fit the administrations need. The very thing that the Fairness Doctrine was there to protect.

In 1959 Congress amended the Communications Act of 1934 to enshrine the Fairness Doctrine into law, rewriting Chapter 315(a) to read: “A broadcast licensee shall afford reasonable opportunity for discussion of conflicting views on matters of public importance.”

This was something that was seen as a coming problem back in the hay-day of radio.

Common Dreams

American thought and American politics will be largely at the mercy of those who operate these stations, for publicity is the most powerful weapon that can be wielded in a republic. And when such a weapon is placed in the hands of one person, or a single selfish group is permitted to either tacitly or otherwise acquire ownership or dominate these broadcasting stations throughout the country, then woe be to those who dare to differ with them. It will be impossible to compete with them in reaching the ears of the American people.
— Rep. Luther Johnson (D.-Texas), in the debate that preceded the Radio Act of 1927 (KPFA, 1/16/03)

In the Radio Act of 1927, Congress mandated the FCC’s forerunner, the Federal Radio Commission (FRC), to grant broadcasting licenses in such a manner as to ensure that licensees served the “public convenience, interest or necessity.”

As you hear the Right-Wing Mouthpieces putdown the people that want the Fairness Doctrine reinstated you must remember that when, or if this happens they will lose their platform from which they are unchallenged for the most part on the Neo-Con agenda. It is not that they were and are the way that most of the people think. It is that they were the only voice allowed to speak by the media owners for so long that in a way they have brainwashed the listeners.

Those of us that have seen past the propaganda, are forced to get our message out by a less popular means. We are forced to use a hit-n-miss media such as, Blogging, Pod Casting, and Video Casting. We do this hoping that people stumble across our, spoken words, pictures, and writings, and spread the truths we tell. For now we are the last beacon of light that is out there for the independent thinker. Because we have not yet reached a full Despotic State, but are fast approaching the Point of No Return.

Below is a great film on Despotism, and how to tell a Despotic rule, from a Democratic one.

Ps. Thanks to BlueJene, for telling me about this film. It really opened my eyes to the takeover that is going on in my United States. You are a good friend

Why is everyone so frightened of W. I had a sign on my back bumper that read, “GEORGE BUSH. I HATE HIS GUTS. And people said, “I wouldnt put that on my car. Too dangerous.” A nation of chickens deserve their coops.

I used to log in to Yahoo Chats each morning and listen to Blue Jene, but Yahoo changed the format to the point where I cannot find my way back through the maze of forms. Looks like we have to pay for chats now.
