Haven’t We Been Here Before?

September 14, 2007

Is it an old Styx song, or the administration’s Iraqi policy. The Blood soaked chimp has stood before the nation and the world saying, they were going to bring a small amount of the U.S. Troops home, and something would magically happen to change that. It is like an old saying that I am sure you have heard before, “Excuses are like assholes, everyone has got one.” However, this administration has got tons of them.

Monday June 26, 2006, (CONFIRMED) Major US Troop Reduction in Iraq “Announced” by GEN Abrams

November 23, 2005, “3 Brigades May Be Cut in Iraq Early in 2006”

Well you get my point. This administration has thrown that little tidbit in front of the American people, almost as much as the phrase 9-11(Oh yea, and Osama Ben laden tapes.) WaPo

Bush said progress on the ground means he can pull out by next summer the additional combat forces he sent in January — roughly 21,700 troops — and he opened the door to further troop reductions if conditions improve.

Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, told Washington Post reporters and editors yesterday that current U.S. projections anticipate Iraq reaching nationwide “sustainable security” by June 2009.

There is a spoof on the guy (Yes that is a Man.) crying and defending of the lousy Britney Spears performance on an award show the other night. This one is of G.W. crying and blubbering, the Senate panel was picking on General Petraeus in the hearings this week. The first time I saw it, I chuckled, but then how sad the whole situation is sank in.

The way this debacle differs from the Vietnam War is you did not hear the troops being put in a position of defending the policies of the President. Because that was not their job! When the top commanders came before a committee they reported on the state of the war, they did not have to lie or dance around the questions. However that is exactly what is going on now and the Democrats are not calling them on it. Gen. Petraeus is reading the white House policies, and when called on them becomes very uneasy in answering. That is because there is no passion; he does not believe the words coming out of his own mouth.
So in essence, yes we have been here before.

As Bill O’Reily put it, if we are there another year, we will lose upwards of a thousand troops, and he is ok with staying another year. I think Keith Olbermann said it best when pointing out O’Reily’s statement.

So having acknowledged that had a year’s time means 1,000 more American deaths, O’Reilly is in favor of it. OK, Bill, you endorse the deaths of 1,000 more Americans. Where do we start? Who is first? Do you want to volunteer some members of your family? Your friends? If you’re not willing to endorse sacrificing some of them, don’t you dare tell other parents and other Americans they have to sacrifice some of theirs. Bill O’Reilly, today’s Worst Person in the World.
