Beating the War Drums. Sounds, Oh too Familiar.

April 3, 2007

US says that Iran has tripled it underground nuclear capability. They say that Iran will have 3000 centrifuges, and the capability to produce a weapon by 2009.

The U.S. intelligence says that it was taken by surprise, and that Iran will be able to produce a nuclear weapon earlier than expected, this according to

Iran has more than tripled its ability to produce enriched uranium in the last three months, adding some 1,000 centrifuges which are used to separate radioactive particles from the raw material.

The sources say the unexpected expansion is taking place at Iran’s nuclear enrichment plant outside the city of Natanz, in a hardened facility 70 feet underground.

“If they continue at this pace, and they get the centrifuges to work and actually enrich uranium on a distinct basis,” said David Albright of the Institute for Science and International Security, “then you’re looking at them having, potentially having enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in 2009.”

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has publicly predicted his country would have 3,000 centrifuges installed by this May, but few in the West gave his claim much credence, until now.

“I think we have all been caught off guard. Ahmadinejad said they would have these 3,000 installed by the end of May, and it appears they may actually do it,” Albright said.

This coupled with the capture of the 14 British sailors, is the type of propaganda that the administration needs to try and boost it’s support for an attack on Iran.

Today a report came out that a F.B.I. agent visiting Iran has come up missing. The agent has not been heard from in a week.

The State Department says that the Former agent was in Iran on business, and has not been heard from by his family since March 9, 2007. Now the thing that needs to answered, is what type of business was he on. If it was personal business, the U.S. and any person from the U.S. are not suppose to be doing business with the Iranians. Could it be that he was there on government business? If so, we can only guess what it was.(Wink-Wink, Nudge-Nudge.)

The retired agent, who specialized in the Mafia during his career that ended more than a decade ago, was in Iran to gather information for an unidentified author who was writing about a felon convicted in the United States who later was granted asylum by the Iranian government, according to CW 39.

It just seems a coincidence, that all of these things are surfacing at the time of a impending attack on Iran, according to leaked information from the Pentagon.

The attack is slated to last for 12 hours, according to Uglanov, from 4 am until 4 pm local time. Friday is the Sabbath in Iran. In the course of the attack, code named Operation Bite, about 20 targets are marked for bombing; the list includes uranium enrichment facilities, research centers, and laboratories.

The article brings up an interesting point about the story and leak of the pending attack, in as it is not being covered by anyone in the U.S.

The story is the top item on numerous Italian and German blogs, but so far appears to have been ignored by US websites.

Maybe Rosie was right when she said that you have to go outside the U.S. media to get the real story. (Well of course we know she was.)
