Not Even Your Love Letters are Safe From this [P]Resident

January 5, 2007

How is it George W. Bush can grant himself the power to read your mail. Bush did just that, he granted himself to have your mail read if he so feels to do so. All this with a Signing Statement. This is according to an article in the Journal Times. Read On.>>>

Bush has once again taken new powers unto himself through the use of “signing statements” when he puts his signature on a bill authorized by Congress.

This time it’s your mail that will now be open to inspection whenever and however someone in the executive branch determines that the government has an interest in doing so if there is an “exigent circumstance” according to Bush’s signing statement.

This should be one of the things the 110th Congress should overturn. It would show that they are honestly worried about the privacy of the people that put them in their seats.

This was signed into action before Christmas, as everything that had to do with our rights disappearing, silently. This is proof that Bush has no respect for the Constitution. It is time for the military to follow the oath they took, and Protect the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic. This man is proving that he is an enemy of the Constitution.

Bush signed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act quietly just a few days before Christmas.

Most of the act involved pedestrian reforms and updates, but one section was intended to strengthen privacy protections and specifically forbade government snooping into people’s mail without a warrant. But in his signing statement Bush said he will “construe” an exception to the law.

What the hell are these criminals try to pull? Tony Snow told reporters today that nothing has changed.

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said there was nothing new in the signing statement.
In his daily briefing Snow said: “All this is saying is that there are provisions at law for — in exigent circumstances — for such inspections. It has been thus. This is not a change in law, this is not new.”

I know that we are all hoping that the New Congress will reel in this madman. He has 2 years left and can do a lot of damage if not. The feeling is that they are not going to do much because they are looking at 2008, and if you do nothing you are not likely to screw-up.

Apparently I haven’t been keeping up, I had no idea this even occured…DAMN!!! This sucks. I wonder if there’s a way we can do the same to Bush. If we can put little camera’s on every liquor bottle and see how many he goes through every day. And then watch the meeting he and his bushy’s have to come up with the next excuse as to why he is acting so loopy. There’s no way in hell he can’t still be on the sauce, thinking the way he does.
Is it possible that he and Paula Abdul have been hanging out together?
